Abstract: OISE-0529828 Kisslinger, Leonard S. (Carnegie-Mellon University) CMU-IHEP Research and Education Planning Visits ABSTRACT Theoretical physicists at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and the Institute of High Energy Physics, Beijing (IHEP) will exchange visits to plan a new program to study the decays of systems containing charm and bottom mesons. Dr. Leonard Kisslinger of CMU, in collaboration with Dr. Wei-xing Ma and Dr. Pengnian Shen of IHEP, will organize the project, which builds on the BES Collaboration at IHEP and the CLEO Collaboration at CMU in an effort to expand understanding of the nature of Quantum Chromodynamics. The first visit, by Chinese experimentalists to CMU in fall 2005, will involve CMU senior and junior faculty as well as postdocs and graduate students. For the second visit, at IHEP in early 2006, U.S. researchers-including at three senior researchers, one postdoc and two graduate students-will travel to IHEP for one week of consultation and planning activity. Chinese researchers will be supported by the National Science Foundation of China.
